Abstract:   (21 Views)
Objective: Obsession is one of the problems that disrupts human functioning. The present study deals with this issue with a preventive and educational approach based on Ayatollah Mojtaba Tehrani. The research questions are: 1) What are the factors of obsession from Ayatollah Mojtaba Tehrani's perspective? and 2) Based on this, what educational solutions can be offered to get rid of obsession?”
Method: the research method is descriptive-analytical. The analytical community of this study is all first-hand works published by Ayatollah Mojtaba Tehrani regarding the soul and the functioning of the soul's faculties. In this study, all the above-mentioned works were precisely investigated considering the research questions. The data were gathered using note cards, then the cards were systematically categorized, coded and analyzed to extract the factors of obsession. Afterwards, considering the factors obtained, some solutions were offered for preventing and coping with obsession.
Findings: Ayatollah Tehrani has analyzed obsession based on the faculties of the soul, regarding the main factor for obsession to be the faculty of imagination overcoming the rational faculty, leading to useless and vicious fancies tempting one to follow the devil temptations and carnal passions. Accordingly, 12 educational strategies have been extracted and offered, including seven preventive strategies (avoiding excessive review of the past, limiting distant desires, avoiding excessive attention to lack of worldly possessions, avoiding internal accumulation of negative emotions and thoughts, rational optimism towards the future, reasonable optimism towards others, and strengthening the relationship with God), and five coping and corrective strategies (thinking about the consequences of obsession, removing sensual vices and closing the ways of devil's influence, ignoring the content of the temptation and avoiding acting upon it, remembering God and seeking refuge in God, and establishing the habit of piety).
Conclusion: Considering the emphasis of the upstream documents in the education system of Iran on promotion of the physical-mental health of the students and addressing disease-causing factors in schools, more serious focus of the educational system on the biological and physical education, greater attention to the cultivation of the rational faculty in pursuit of mental health goals, and the implementation of the proposed strategies are recommended for school teachers and educators.
