Objective: This study investigates the mediating role of psychological capital in the relationship between Iranian-Islamic identity and the mental health of students in Poldokhtar, Iran. Method: The research method was descriptive-correlational, utilizing structural equation modeling (SEM). The statistical population was senior high school students in Poldokhtar during the 2023-2024 academic year. Using convenience sampling based on Klein’s perspective, 300 students were selected as the sample. The research instruments included the Rashidi Iranian-Islamic Identity Questionnaire (2021), Luthans’ Psychological Capital Questionnaire (2007), and the Keyes et al. Mental Health Questionnaire (2008). Data analysis was performed using SPSS-26 and AMOS-24 software. Findings: The findings revealed that Iranian-Islamic identity has a direct and significant effect on mental health (P < 0.01). Iranian-Islamic identity positively and significantly correlates with psychological capital (P < 0.01). Psychological capital and mental health also showed a positive and significant relationship (P < 0.01). The indirect relationship between Iranian-Islamic identity and mental health, mediated by psychological capital, was positive and significant (P < 0.01). Conclusion: Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the proposed model fits the research data appropriately, and psychological capital acts as a mediating factor influencing the relationship between Iranian-Islamic identity and mental health. In other words, Iranian-Islamic identity can enhance students’ mental health by increasing hope, optimism, self-efficacy, and resilience. Therefore, it is recommended to provide education on Iranian-Islamic identity and institutionalize it among students.
