Method: This study is a descriptive and correlative research. The population includes high school students in Tehran in 2013-2014 academic year among which 300 students were selected randomly using multistage sampling method. The instruments comprised Beck Depression Inventory, Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, and a self-rating Scale for Religious Commitment whose reliability and validity were approved by psychometric criteria. The data were analyzed using correlation coefficient and variance analysis. Findings: The results indicated that the girls suffered from anxiety and depression more than the boys but there was no significant difference between these two groups in terms of commitment to Islamic teachings. There was also a significant, negative relationship between religious commitment and anxiety level (r= 0.452, p<0.05). In addition, there was a significant, negative relationship between religious commitment and depression level (r= 0.464, p<0.05). It can be concluded that the higher the commitment to Islamic teachings, the lower the anxiety and depression level. }, URL = {http://qaiie.ir/article-1-33-en.html}, eprint = {http://qaiie.ir/article-1-33-en.pdf}, journal = {Applied Issues in Quarterly Journal of Islamic Education}, doi = {10.29252/qaiie.1.1.90}, year = {2016} }
