Method: The method is descriptive-correlational. The population of the study comprised all the high school students of Marvdasht in 2013-2014 academic year among which 370 students were selected using cluster sampling. The instrumentation included a self-rating questionnaire on using the Internet and satellite programs as well as a religious identity questionnaire. The reliability and validity of the instruments were approved using psychometric criteria. The data were analyzed with descriptive and inferential statistics using frequency, percent, correlation coefficient, and multivariate analysis of variance. Findings: The findings showed that there is a negative, significant relationship between the Internet and satellite programs usage on the one hand, and the three dimensions of students’ religious identity on the other hand. The highest correlations observed between the Internet usage and the religious identity dimensions are: practical dimension (-0.53), affective dimension (-0.52) and religious dimension (-0.49). Moreover, the highest correlations observed between satellite usage and the religious identity dimensions are as follows: practical dimension (-0.53), affective dimension (-0.44), and religious dimension (-0.39). Hence, using the Internet and satellite tends to decrease the religious identity among high school students at practical, affective, and religious dimensions CP - IRAN IN - LG - eng PB - qaiie PG - 39 PT - Research YR - 2016
